Back in April, both Nancy and myself took a short short short (really short) break to Bintan for my birthday celebration. We could not have gone for a longer trip as there were quite a number of backlogs to be cleared and delivered to my valued clients...Although the trip was short, we felt so refreshed and recharged when we came back to Singapore...it just felt so good to be in a resorty place...with nothing much to do, no shopping, not much entertainment, no sight seeing, no laptop and internet, no hectic and stressful lifestyle, no shooting and editing, this really felt like a good break. It is just so great to be able to sleep for 10 hours on both nights during the trip (nothing like what we have in singapore), And it's just eat, swim, spa, eat, sleep, eat, spa, eat, sleep, eat and sleep again...And this is what i called a "HOLIDAY"...
Thanks dear for arranging this birthday getaway for me...really enjoyed myself and can't wait for more trips with you...
Ok guys...some couple couple shots taken during this trip...notice alot of you take me, i take you kind of shots...very seldom we can have a decent couple shot...as always, we will have the shoot the mirror reflection shot in order to have both of us in the same picture... :P

Very yummy food and best sunset view at the baan aarya restaurant

Not too long ago, we have launched our advertisement on a few magazines. And strangely, we have more photography enquiries over videography enquiries (WHY...?). And like usual, i will just tell those couples that we only do videography and not photography. And one fine day, Rachel gave me a call asking for pre-wedding photography. And as usual, i will just say that we are a videography company and we only do pre-wedding concept videoshoot and not photoshoot. Normally, couples will just say "ohhh you guys just do videography? Then it's ok...". But Rachel surprises me. She said "Do you think you can shoot my pre-wedding photos? I know that you are not doing photography, but after seeing what you have on your blog and your ad, i am sure you can do photography as well. I need someone who can shoot like Wong Kar Wai (the oriental style) and I believe you have an eye for that" After hearing what she said, i decided to at least meet up with her to see what she has in mind as she is very sincere and persistent in having us to do her photoshoot...
So came the day we met up. During the meeting, we were going through some of my oriental pre-wedding concept films. And again, we emphasised that there are alot of good photographers out there who can manage her requirements...but after watching my films, she confirmed us for the photography job on the spot. She said "That's exactly what we are looking for!"...and she paid the deposit and there you go...our first paid photography job!
And just last week, we did the shoot with them. We were really anxious at first, but the warmth and confidence Jovann and Rachel gave us just make our day and not more butterflies in the stomach...We had so much fun shooting them (Rachel is just so filled with energy and drive for the shoot) and i am really happy that most of the images turn out the way i wanted them too...like "In the Mood for Love"...
So here's the credits for the photoshoot
Casts:
Jovann & Rachel
Director:
Yang
Photographers:
Yang & Nancy
Makeup & Styling:
Pin from Blush Blush
And some of the images below are what we have shot that day (still editing the rest)...so enjoy and do drop me a note if you guys are keen to have a shoot like Jovann & Rachel's...
Have a great evening guys!

Wedding planner: The Wedding Entourage
Photography: Triston & Denise from Tri-angles
Videography: Yang from Substance Films
Gowns: Tan Yoong
Flowers & Deco: Hari from Boenga
Make up & Hairdo: Dily Wang from Face Bistro & Michael from Le Salon
This is one great wedding. Drama and all...do take a sneak peek at some of the photos below. To get the whole feel of the lavish and well planned wedding ceremony & party by The Wedding Entourage, do drop by our studio to view the movie montage..
The bride, lynn, is a bride who is so into video. She told me that she loves videos so much that she carries a video camera wherever she goes. When she is older and retiring, she would love to bring out all these videos to watch them one by one, like movie marathon. I think this is just so cool. This is exactly what i am going to do...maybe when i become older, i will compile all the wedding films i have done and make it into a feature film maybe. Hehehe..
To date, i have not given so many dvds to a couple. Normally, a couple will get like 3-4 dvds from me. For Lynn, it was 3 times more. She got a total of 11-12 pieces of dvds. Reason being, besides hiring me from Substance Films, she wanted my 2nd videographer to cover the guests and their parents, and a 3rd videographer to do the livefeed for banquet. Thus, that makes up the 11-12 dvds of video footages for her to go through. So Lynn, have fun watching all of them... :)
PS: Lynn, i still love that shot of you getting into the car...it is just so classic and beautiful. Thanks again for appointing me to be your videographer. If not, i would not have gotten this beautiful portfolio with great settings and vendors to work with.
And all you readers, do enjoy seeing some of the pictures extracted from my montage below...

Just finished shooting Jonathan & Raine & Alvin & Poh Ling's weddings over the past weekend. I must say this is one of the most rewarding weekends where both the grooms (Jonathan & Alvin) gave me a big big bear hug after viewing their same day highlights on the big screen...this is quite unusual as grooms seldom hug vendors (at least for my case), usually, i will get hugs from brides...but this weekend seems abit different...hmm oh well, i do feel their sincere thanks and i am glad that i have somehow made ther wedding abit more memorable in a way or another.
More weddings to come this week and i am definitely looking forward to make each and everyone of them different and impactful in their own way...

It's really fortunate for us to film a wedding like Jonathan & Natasha's. In short, it's simple beautiful...nice spanish theme for the night...something special i thought...and shooting Jonathan and Natasha is such an easy job for us as they are so comfortable in front of camera (especiallty Natasha who is totally not shy loh...hahaha).
Anyway, really enjoyed capturing your wedding and i look forward to seeing you guys at more weddings...So far, we have Chris and Karen, Adrian & Michelle...and i believe there will be more... :)
Keep watching the video!

When Kwong Weng first stepped into my studio last year, i was scanning him up and down and up and down...he looked really familiar...and after a few glances, i remembered who he is...i thought to myself.
"Was he the guy who tekaned me last time when i was in the Commandos?" Hahahah....
Kwong Weng was very stern with us last time in camp. But after chatting with Rachael and himself for a while, i found out that he is quite a friendly and talkative chap, nothing like when i knew him from army...and in fact, we clicked very well...I told him i am very bad in Standing Board Jump and he immediately stood up and demonstrated to me as to how to do a proper jump...and the next moment, he's jumping around the studio...hahhaa...but saying and demonstrating is easy...when i start to do it, the distance i go again ..barely reach the 207cm mark...so, i gave up...and just leave it to fate for my ippt test...
The dinner was a reunion for the commandos basically. i saw alot of familiar faces, including my OC who is one of the sword bearers, some other officers and OCs, warrant officers, specs and airborne trainers...i must say it's nice to bump into them again after 3 years or so...so lots to catch up...Also, i bumped into one of my ex brides, Chiah Ching, whom wedding i shot in dec 2006...It was through her wedding that Rachael first saw my videos and thus, knew about Substance Films...so Chiah Ching, owe you a coffee...hehhehe.
All in all, nice couple, nice cosy wedding in Four Seasons Hotel...hope to do more commandos' weddings soon...
So, picture time...

By the way Kwong Weng & Rachael, i love your nice house and furniture...catch up soon...

It was such a fun shoot filming Jeremy & Eunice's wedding. And the fact that their house and their parents' houses are so near to my place, it just feels good...hahhaa...it took me about 3 minutes to reach Eunice's place in the morning...shiok! Very seldom i do get brides who stay so near to me...rare occasion, but i definitely would want to see more of these cases happening...which mean MORE SLEEP... :) woohooo...
And i must say that Eunice's gowns from Amanda Lee Weddings are quite interesting...loud and cool...something unusual i think...keep up the good work amanda! I will be working on your video soon...very looking forward to editing it...
So, let's have a sneak preview of the wedding...

This wedding is definitely one of the coolest weddings i have shot this year...a union of a boutique owner and a tattoo artist. (they just look super hip together lah)..and to be shooting along side with Eadwine from Plush, just makes everything easier, smoother and prettier.
And also, probably the birthday cake which Betty bought for me just motivated me to work an extra mile for their wedding...i thought that's really sweet of her...Anyway, thanks for the yummy yummy cake!
Ok...some of the pictures extracted from their wedding video...

We had such great time for the past few days in Hk, 6 days 5 nights of non-stop shopping and the splendid birthday celebration that dear has planned for me..It's been a hectic period for you and I really love all the surprises that you have planned everyday! The surprise spa, dress and dining!
the ultimate unique spa that everyone got to try http://www.chuanspa.com/en/HongKong/ind
That lovely dress from avana and romantic dining at the peak!
On the way to Tung Chung Station, for factory outlet bargains. Love the environment but not the traveling time!
Visiting the people we need to visit!
Birthday Breakfast. Our fav teresa hongkong cafe next to the hotel!
Hot Fav that we had the breakfast everyday!
The Peak Look-out Restaurant ! Highly reccommended by dear's many couples and that's one of the arrangement as well. Romantic settings and ambience..Great place for a cool chill-out session! Great food, weather and nice music! And of course, the greenish blue dress bought by dearest from Avana! Thanks to Natasha who helped dear choose the perfect dress for me. Simply love it...
after all the winding journey up the peak, we do manage to get the lovely colours...
It has to be the best tiramisu we ever had...All worth it for the price!
And...Shopping Galore!! the be-all and end-all of our trip in hongkong would be shopping! A total of 24 items and more I guessed. Some for the little niece and nephews, the parents... Can't wait for the next one!

Arrrrggghhh...Stiff neck again...now i can't turn my head right...i wonder what's wrong with my sleeping posture...i just got stiff neck 2 weeks ago... :( Or was it because of my massage when the masseur turned my head left right, hearing the "crack crack" sound?
I hope that i will recover fully by tomorrow for my shoot....
